I found this project today, and feel like I need to build a couple of these for around the house. A busy light that turns green when it’s okay to talk, but red when you’re on the phone.
Since it’s payday, and the end of a long week, we ordered Butter Chicken for lunch today.
I’m starting to worry about school for the kid in the fall. She is supposed to start Kindergarten, but I’m starting to prepare for a year of homeschooling, just in case.
Speaking of which, I’ve been watching the local COVID-19 stats everyday. I’m still cautious, but it eases my anxiety to see the recovered cases are now starting to outnumber the active cases. It might be a false sense of security, but at least things are moving in the right direction.
Since it looks like Nintendo Switches will be nonexistent until around Christmas, I’m looking at other things we could use as a distraction. I thought about buying a telescope with a DSLR adaptor so we can spend some time outside at night, but the cost of those shot up $300 since the pandemic started. We might just buy a Raspberry Pi or one of those “Build A Computer” kits as a family activity. I considered investing in a 3D printer, but I’m not sure I want to deal with the fumes of melting plastic, as I can’t stand the smell of melting plastic. I need a garage for one of those.
My kid is four years old and already asking me for her own computer. I’m considering one of those Kano Computer Kits. She’s about a year and a half too young for it, but if I have to homeschool her next year, this will be her project. She will learn to code before she turns six.
Last night while I was digging through my office, I found one of my old sketchbooks from 2017. I was apparently quite depressed. I’ll keep it around if I ever question why I’m going back to university. The lack of professional opportunities for someone without a degree was definitely getting to me.
When we finally buy a new house, I have decided I want try and build my own arcade cabinet. I have an idea of how I want to make it, I just need to draw up plans and actually make it. This social distancing is giving me a lot of time to think. To much. Good thing I start school in a couple weeks, and won’t have time to think of anything other than school work soon.
